100th anniversary Harley or a screaming Eagle?
i was thinking of buying a Harley which would you go for, the 100th anniversary v rod or the screaming eagle and why
You really mean a 2003 bike, correct?2003 was the 100th anniversary model year.
It was also the first model year of the v-rod.
Screaming Eagle isn’t a bike – per say.Screaming Eagle is the marketing moniker for Harley’s high performance parts. Each model year Harley produces a couple (usually 3) different "screaming eagle" versions of their production bikes.Example – Screaming Eagle Road King or Screaming Eagle Street Glide.
Which to get is a question of which you like more.I’ve ridden a v-rod and didn’t like it.V-rod is almost chopper like in the way it rides, which I don’t care for.The front is raked out a lot more than it appears to be.It’s doesn’t handle as well as other HDs.I like bikes that you don’t need a whole parking lot to make a 180 degree turn on.The screaming eagle bikes will be just like the production bikes, just with a different paint job and slightly higher performance.
see my my picture
,Vrod all the way. Power, style, looks, can’t even compare metric cruisers to
sorry fester, disagree about you with the handling, and it rides nothing like a chopper, i think the age of the rider depends on which bike they get comes into it too
michael, you can spend a 100,000 on a jap bike and it still wont be a Harley :p
I would buy both.Part of riding is getting what speaks to you.Unfortunately for me all bikes speak to me, that’s why I have 12…from BMW’s to Harley’s, sport bikes, road bike, dirt bikes and tourers.Only you can decided which bike you like best, if possible ride them both back to back then decide.
The vrod is super nice, but so are metrics. And they are about 10k cheaper which in today’s day and age isn’t something to turn your head at. Think of the improvements/customization you can do with 10k.
Go with the Screaming Eagle. There is nothing special about the 100th anniversary bike, but the price.
I believe you mean 10th anniversary V-Rod?I’d buy the V-Rod, because of its wonderful motor.
Either way you are paying $10k extra for the name. You could save that and buy a better japanese clone, but then you are still riding something that is about a look and sacrificing a load of rideability. To me it is a little gay to be so concerned with how a machine looks and not so concerned with how it runs. There are such better around town bikes, there are such better over the road bikes.Dollar for dollar, pound for pound, cc for cc, there is no worse performing bike than a vtwin crusier.
If you want an American-made muscle bike, buy a Victory Hammer instead.
It’s better built than a Harley, it has better brakes than a Harley, it develops more torque than a Harley, it’s more reliable than a Harley, it handles better than a Harley, it looks better than a Harley and people won’t think you’re just a poser, who bought a bike just because of the name on the tank.
(Oh hello, I’ve got a bunch of "Thumbs downs" from the Harley trailer-queens.Never mind, eh…??)
Neither as both will be like riding the tank in your avatar. Just about any other maker does a better job of cruisers than the over – priced, over – rated Harley tractors.
Or you could just buy a real bike
